Blooms + tassels + first time bloggers
One of my favorite things to do is take photos of bloggers who haven't worked with a professional photographer before. The vibe is a mixture of excitement, anxiety, and endless possibility, which is intoxicating. It's so fun to answer questions and guide them through the experience, while also watching progress into getting comfortable, having fun, and finding the rhythm of being in front of a professional camera.
Mixing fashion with killer views
I love it when bloggers want to step out of the box and try something different, so when Christina (classtige.com) asked if there were any city views where we could shoot, I knew just the place!
Shannon and the shirt with two roses
One of my favorites Valentine's Day sessions was with Shannon of Style by Lolly. She went girly, but still edgy. Instead of roses, she picked tulips. No dress, but jeans and a tee. She did keep the red lips and glittery heels, but they were wedges and she paired the whole outfit with a statement necklace.
Orange bell bottoms? Yes, you can!
I know that the 90s are back in style, but Kelsey brought it with a flashback to the 70s. Orange bell bottoms, huge sunglasses, and colorful fur, perfectly styled with white and gold accessories. What you can't tell from the photos is that Kelsey is actually short, but did she stun in this outfit anyway? Yes she did!
NYFW: Checking the High Line off my bucket list
I haven't been to NYC as an adult. The only time I'd traveled there before was to visit my cousins when I was 10 years old. I barely remember that trip, but I think I spent most of my time in their Bronx apartment, eating pizza and listening to my older cousin's ska collection.
NYFW: Katty Xiomara
Katty Xiomara was the last runway show I saw during my time at NYFW. It was also my first experience in a runway photography pit, and the most amazing way to end the week.
NYFW: Francesca Liberatore
This runway showcase by Francesca Liberatore was one of the first shows I went to at NYFW and it definitely set a high standard! I left completely inspired. I loved all of the lace and fur, with classic feminine touches that still somehow made the models look fierce and empowered. ...
NYFW: The perfect floral skirt for winter weather
On the last day of NYFW, Tamryn of wannabefashionblogger.com and I went shooting and she wore some of my favorite outfits of the whole trip! This floral overalls-skirt she wore with pointy brown boots and a dusty pink coat made for the perfect winter look. The colors are a bit subdued, but still pop against the pale gray cityscape. ...
NYFW: Verdad
It was the second-to-last day of my NYFW trip, and I'd already seen such a wide variety of designs. Going into Louis Verdad's runway show, I wasn't sure what to expect. It turned out to be one of my favorite shows!

NYFW: Elizabeth Kennedy
My girlfriends and I stumbled across Elizabeth Kennedy's gorgeous presentation on our way to a runway show. I'm so glad we did, because it was incredible. You could feel an electric energy fill the room with inspiration from the beauty that was being presented. ...
NYFW: Club Monaco
My first day in NYC was a magical blur of shows, lunches, and amazing outfits. In the evening, I somehow found myself at the flagship Club Monaco store on 5th Ave. with one of the most beautiful setups I'd ever seen. There were flowers draping down from every corner, and gorgeous models catching your gaze in every direction. ...
The S stands for Sassy
Once in a while you meet one of those people that are truly wise for their age. Sarah at www.sassyredlipstick.com is one of those people. Sarah is one of the first bloggers I met in San Francisco, and I'll always appreciate how welcoming and open she has been. ...
Going full time!
I've always wanted to be a full-time photographer, but it never felt like the right time to make that transition. When I was young, my family wanted me to be some kind (any kind) of doctor, so I went to grad school to get a doctorate degree. I've worked in offices since I was 16, entered tech in my early 20s -- I kept feeling the pressure to get further in my "real" career, to make more money, to be more financially stable and responsible and adult. ...
One dress, 4 ways
If you haven't heard of Betabrand, you should look them up RIGHT NOW because their clothes are seriously the coolest. Not only are they super cute, they are built for function. Stretchy yoga pants that look business-appropriate? Yes, please. Knee-length skirt that actually has shorts with pockets underneath? Um, definitely! Utilitarian AND fashionista, kind of like the Utilikilt, but way, WAY more awesome. ...
Boba baes for life
A few weeks ago, an amazing thing happened.
My favorite boba shop (Boba Guys, holla!) was on its last day of 12 Days of Christmas, where they hide a gift card in a different location every day for fans to hunt. I'd tried to pick one up earlier in the week, but missed it literally by seconds (I watched someone walk out with it right as I pulled up), and didn't think I'd have another chance. So there I was, 7:30am and getting ready for work, when I checked their Instagram and lo and behold, the final card was waiting at the top of Twin Peaks. I thought for a moment whether I was being responsible, but decided I should choose life (who ever regrets not working enough, anyway?) and jetted out the door and pulled up... just to see another girl was already talking to Bin (one of the founders). Defeated, I started to pull away, but decided to take a chance and ask, just to make sure. ...
